Who We Are
Founded under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and the Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, may God protect him, Zayed Military University was established as a leading national institution that brings together advanced academic education and integrated military qualification, guided by a comprehensive vision that anticipates the requirements of the future.
The University seeks to prepare and develop a new generation of future leaders and officers across the defense and security sectors, reflecting the United Arab Emirates’ steadfast commitment to investing in its national capacities and strengthening human capabilities while pursuing the highest standards of excellence in military education and training.

ZMU History
Zayed Military University (ZMU) was established in November 2021, in accordance with the strategic directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, as part of a national vision aimed at developing the military education system and enhancing the readiness of national cadres in the defense and security sectors.
The establishment of the University continues the national legacy laid down by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, in building human capacity, strengthening the Armed Forces, and entrenching a model of military education that combines academic knowledge, military discipline, and national values.
The founding of Zayed Military University coincided with the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the United Arab Emirates, reflecting the State’s forward-looking approach to developing national competencies and preparing military leaders capable of keeping pace with regional and international developments while contributing to the preservation of the nation’s security and stability.

Zayed Military University admits Emirati high school graduates and students in the final year of high school aged between 17 and 25, provided they meet the admission standards of the Armed Forces or Police, in addition to fulfilling the University’s own program admission requirements.
ZMU partners with Khalifa University, Rabdan Academy, and Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi to award accredited degrees:
- Bachelor of Computer Science – Khalifa University
- Bachelor of Computer Engineering – Khalifa University
- Bachelor of Science in Defence & Security – Rabdan Academy
- Bachelor of Economics & Management – Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi
- Bachelor of Geography & Planning – Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi
The temporary campus is in Hamim Beach, Abu Dhabi. The permanent campus is under development and will also be in Abu Dhabi.
Currently, only undergraduate programmes are offered.
Final selection occurs during the first phase of national service.
Yes, female Emirati students can apply according to approved batches and University admission policies.
